A real favourite of Country Classic Cars, the R129 Mercedes 300SL with its silky smooth straight six, offering 190bhp via a seamless four speed auto gearbox and fully loaded interior, it has become the modern classic of choice for those who follow the market. The model became a world-wide success with much praised heaped upon its (at the time) ground-breaking safety features including the automatic extending roll-over bar with ABS and airbag technology. Its legendary hydraulic convertible roof opening mechanism presents the owner with three options; luxury open air travel with the soft top down or at the press of a button 16 seconds and the hood is up, occupants sealed from the elements and finally the car was supplied with a clip-on hard top roof, ideal for winter use.

Our example was registered April 1993 and has travelled 96,283 miles although it has covered less than 5k miles in the past six years having limited use whilst being stored by a local collector. In that time, it has benefitted from a new roof ECU/control mechanism in August 2018, invoices include a full service and new crankshaft sensor in December 2015 plus o/s window motor the year previously when the mileage was recorded at 91,222. Prior to sale the car will receive a comprehensive pre-sales check, full service plus valet and fresh MOT.

Finished in the desirable Periblau Met on blue finish with sand interior there is little question of the build quality enjoyed by the SL range and this example presents well with perfect carpets, unblemished leather throughout whilst the exterior shows straight clean panels and bright paint. Equipment includes electric windows, mirrors and seats (with heating option) with cruise control, central locking plus the original Blaupunkt audio system.
