NG TC V8

Performance, handling makes a statement ... built by an authority.

NG Cars, founded by Nick Green in 1979, not far from our own workshops in New Milton, Hampshire. An engineer with a yearning to build a unique car Nick developed his first model (the NG TA) which paid homage to 1930s Aston Martin International. The marque would see several ownership changes throughout the decades since with new models TC, TF, TD utilising various running gear options. Running alongside since 1981 is the NG Owners Club which enjoys a very strong following with lots of events and technical advice. In 1994 John Hoyle an engineer from Epsom took over the company, he built and displayed an NG TC V8 which enjoyed bespoke cycle wings and very attractive boat tail.

Country Classic Cars are pleased to confirm we can offer a 1999 registered NG TC V8 as commission sale. This example was built by John Hoyle for the original owner, a replica of the companies ‘display/demo’ vehicle at the time and we have been requested by the family to find a new custodian. Paperwork includes the original quote and final invoice which details the spec requested that includes:

Rover V8 3.9 litre

Four Barel Webber carb

NG stainless exhaust system

Package rated to 330bhp

Five speed Rover gearbox

MGB 3.9 Differential

Suspension Front: NG wishbones & Avo fully adjustable coil overs

Brakes Rear: MGB Drums

Wheels 3-piece alloy fr:17 x 8   rr: 17 x 9

Aero screens, carpeting & mohair tonneau

Options Leather trim, spot lights & Union jack emblems.

Finished in silver/blue metallic this NG does present well, we noted one blemish to the n/s front cycle wing, it appears to have caught the exhaust in one place. The panels are straight with no evidence of damage or repair. We removed the drivers carpet section for cleaning and this will need to refitted, we can confirm both carpets and seat trims are in good order, offering minimal wear. The dash enjoys a full display of gauges, speedo, rev counter oil pressure and separate oil temp plus coolant temp and fuel gauge … all are operating correctly. The NG badged Moto Lita steering wheel completes the cabin, we did note the indicator stalk failed to select dipped/main beam when tested. Tyres are Continental Contisports all round, boasting plenty of available tread. Country Classic Cars were requested to replace the original differential four years ago and we have looked after (servicing & repairs) the NG since. Recently the car came in with an overheating issue, we carried out a full range of tests including compression but we were unable to fault or replicate the problem; the engine currently runs up to temp correctly but we will recommend any future owner considers this and monitors the situation.

A quick Google will show the overwhelming opinion is that NG cars were well made and sensibly thought out, the panels enjoy a quality comparable marques can only envy. That said the build stage can make or break such a project and this TC was assembled by an engineer who knew exactly how it should go together … knowledge is king. Panels enjoy a precise fit and finish, the tonneau is tight enough but fingernails will remain intact when securing. The cabin is well presented, comfortable and well laid out with just entry and exit strategy something that requires practice. It was pointed out this is a seriously powerful car, not one for a novice but once on the move it seemed quite docile until prodded. As expected the steering offers plenty of feedback and frankly it sticks to the road like a Limpit and the NG braking system is more than enough for such a lightweight. The engine audio cannot be ignored, the side pipes move stones and dust on tickover and we found the five speed box selects ratios with minimal fuss and with 330 bhp transferring the clutch is certainly firm. One thing you can guarantee with this NG TCV8 … every drive is an experience.

The V5 shows 2 previous owners, initially the build registration followed by the first owner and currently his wife; the car is two family owned.  We have a copy of the V8 engine build sheet, a 3.9 litre (turnkey) with stage one heads tuned for unleaded completed by RPI engineering for NG Cars. This sale comes with original build manual plus quotes/invoices from John Hoyle costings that 25 years ago managed to double the current asking price! We have been contacted by several NG enthusiasts prior to advertising so we realise there will be plenty of knowledgeable interest. Having covered just 12597 miles, built to a very high standard and spec this is a rare chance to acquire a superb NG. We will be conducting a pre-sales check and supply with 12 months MOT.

For additional information please message with your email address for detailed images (wheels etc) we recommend viewing our short walk-round video; we will forward the file via ‘We Transfer’ a free to use and safe service or Whats Ap if you supply your mobile phone number. We are very happy to offer viewing during the week but this car is securely stored a short drive from our workshops so Country Classic Cars operate by appointment allowing time for us to collect.
